Blogging for success

What is a Blog?
“A blog (web log) is a website where entries are written in chronological order & displayed in
reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add
content to a blog.” (Wikipedia)

Why should I blog?
A blog will lead new visitors to your web site based upon posts that you do. New posts get
indexed instantly, so you post in the morning, get business in the afternoon.

What software should I use?
Wordpress.org
Pros: Best for SEO, has the most features, able to maintain an entire site with it.
Cons: Not easy to install for a novice, need to update software often.
Blogger.com
Pros: 5 minute setup, easy to use, owned by Google.
Cons: Not able to put content inside of your site, you don't own the software.

Where can I find content?
Both Blogger & Wordpress make it easy to pull content into their blogs from outside sources.
Photos: Flickr.com is a great source to find millions of photos that can be used in your blog.
Videos: Youtube.com has videos that you can embed right into any blog post you do.
Google Maps: Make a custom map of local attractions and add it into your blog.

What should I write about?
Posts should be done to help your site’s placement in the search engines. Develop content
about local attractions and events in your area.
Use the Google Wonder Wheel to find what to write about.
